I blew up a capacitor in a printer once via software! —
Great example of the power of undefined behavior! :-)
This first version of the detailed plan was devised during February 2010. It is close to the final route. I may not even post any variations, and document the final route split by days. I will travel Around Australia anti-clockwise. The main reason being: I will encounter mostly tail winds, and will go with the good weather. ![]()
The routes below (in yellow) are reflecting an arbitrary split of my original routes, which were around the 2,000 km mark. My GPSr, a Garmin zumo 550, needs quite some processing time to calculate such large routes, hence the split into smaller chunks. The routes do not relate to time, as in: one route does not need to be completed in a day; and a day may cover sections from 2 routes.
Sorry for the confusion. Since I do not ride on a schedule, any split of routes is just that, arbitrary and random.

The map sections below refer to the routes listed above. Most of the routes are in the same scale. The 3 that are not, can be identified by the smaller font type for the locality names. Clicking on the image will provide the same scale images as the others. The route of interest in each image below is marked in yellow.

I have been asked what the other symbols and routes represent. My Routes are planned in MapSource. MapSource is an application for trip planning. The end results will be routes and waypoints that can be downloaded to most Garmin GPSr devices, which then provide directions to the selected destination. I keep three types of "things" in my MapSource file:
The benefit of this approach is that when I planned one of the routes, I could see straight away, whether there is an IBEM location of one fo the 200 Top Motorcycle Roads near my planned routes. It made it easy to adjust the route to take in any of these extra waypoints along the way… all I have to do now is ride the routes ![]()
